Well, it’s February and for some of us that means we gave up on our New Year’s resolutions a couple of months ago. For others, it means we are just getting started, and if your resolution was to find the best egg whites and start incorporating them into your diet, then boy do we have the article for you. This week we braved the dog-eat-dog, every-man-for-himself nature of the most oviparous aisle of the grocery store so that we could give you our 100% real opinion on the best liquid egg whites (or 100% real liquid egg whites, as they say on their packaging).
The best egg whites from a carton should, first and foremost, taste and act like egg whites. They can be silky, smooth, or spongy (there’s a type for every preference out there), but most of all they need to have that insane protein-to-calorie ratio we all know and love, and they need to taste like freshly cracked eggs, minus the yolk. So we grabbed every liquid egg white brand we could find, cooked them up in a pan, and tasted them side by side. We really did our best here (our Eggland’s best, as it were), so without further ado, let’s crack the case of the best liquid egg whites.

When we first poured these out of the container we were a little worried about the texture. They were thicker than egg whites and reminded us of the texture of cold bone broth (a liiiiiitle mucusy). That said, they still smelled like nothing (a good sign) so we gave them a whirl in the ol’ frying pan and while these were a bit drier than the other two on this list, they were the most fluffy and spongy of the bunch. If you are a fan of a good spongy, springy egg whites, these are the best liquid egg whites for you.

These egg whites are smooth and shiny, much like the best egg white on this list but with a bit of the same airy sponginess as the Sprouts egg whites. That said, these liquid egg whites from Sunnyside Farms have a smooth, liquidy, normal egg-white consistency out of the carton, and while they cook up dryer than our number one pick, they aren’t dry by any means. These are the best egg whites if you want an omelet that strikes a balance between silk and spongy.

These, for all intents and purposes, are just egg whites in a carton. They smell like nothing, they both look like and pour like egg whites, and they have a rich, silky quality to them that the other two egg whites on this list didn’t quite capture. If you want a tasty, protein-packed egg white in a carton, Bob Evans is your man.
